I am deeply grateful for my educational experience at PSR that prepared me for my ministerial journey, augmented by my undergraduate degree in business administration. I was ordained in November 2005 and served the United Church of Christ as a National Officer and Executive Minister of Justice and Witness Ministries for ten years. I completed my national church service in 2015 and returned home to Portland, where I am a management consultant and active volunteer in my local church, the UCC Central Pacific Conference, the Colectivo de UCC Latinx Ministries. I have had the opportunity to preach or speak in numerous local churches, association and conference assemblies, and national gatherings, most recently at the Council for Racial and Ethnic Ministries Convocation in June 2022 and the Antoinette Brown Society Gathering for Clergywomen in September 2022.
I was honored to serve on PSR’s Board of Trustees for two terms and was active on our Anniversary Planning Committee. I now serve on the Board of Directors of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and chaired the planning for EMO’s Annual Collins Summit that was powerfully inspired by keynoter, PSR President David Vasquez Levy in 2018.
On occasion, I am described as a person relentlessly seeking justice, passionate about peace, and one who seeks full inclusion. I consider it an honor to be assigned such labels, primarily because I am convinced that God’s promise and love is the solid grounding through which we claim our status as children of God, and celebrate our oneness with all of creation, while remaining authentic to our roots. Kinship with God and each other requires that everyone be treated with dignity and respect — nothing less. I cherish engagement with interfaith, inter-cultural and multilingual communities grounded in the belief that we are each responsible for sharing wisdom and stories across generations.
The more I learn, the clearer it becomes that I am well prepared for ministerial leadership in various settings. I am very impressed by the vitality of the Council’s work guided by an amazingly vibrant group of diverse leaders. I am spiritually driven, professionally equipped, personally prepared to respond to the places where God calls me into service at this time. As a relentless and outspoken supporter of PSR, I am excited by the possibility of serving on the PSR Alumnx Council at this point in my life. Thank you for considering my application.
