Kelly is a practical theologian who believes in the power of the particular. Her research interests include ritual studies, trauma, disability, queer and trans religious identities, and online/hybrid religious practice. Around the GTU, she teaches in the areas of liturgical studies, homiletics, and field education, and especially enjoys supporting students in building their working theologies. Kelly earned her MDiv at Emmanuel College, part of the Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto, and her PhD from the Graduate Theological Union in the Department of Religion and Practice. Outside of the classroom, Kelly serves as co-senior minister of First Congregational Church of Berkeley UCC, where she has many co-conspirators seeking to make the world better through local and global action for justice.
