Rev. Dr. James Lawrence came to PSR in 2001 after seventeen years in congregational leadership and in publishing ministries. His Doctor of Ministry degree focused on the performative practice of writing as a communications ministry strategy. To date he has been author, editor, contributor, or publisher of more than 150 bound works and author of dozens of ministry and spirituality articles for the lay public. His teaching emphases cluster in the fields of Christian Spirituality and New Religious Movements.
His Ph.D. degree work focused on the history of spiritual classics and on the rhetorical hermeneutical ideas of Paul Ricoeur how to read a text and shape liberative arcs for meaning and purpose in conversation with contemporary cultural contexts. At PSR, Rev. Dr. Lawrence directs the Doctor of Ministry program working with established professionals in elevating and deepening their praxis.
