A post-election reflection from PSR President David Vásquez-Levy
Dear Friends,
This election season, and its ultimate outcome, has played into the deep divisions of families and communities across the nation. We were presented with diametrically opposed worldviews, amplified by separate information ecosystems. The implications of the results of the election on the communities many of us come from, or are committed to, are only dawning on us. For many of us, this rendering is felt in loss, disorientation, and anger.
In times of grief, the wisdom of our communities and traditions calls us to God, to one another, and to rest. Psalm 30:5 has sustained generations of communities that have known what it is like when those in power do not have their best interest at heart. The Psalmist assures us that “weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
At PSR, we continue to ground ourselves in our mission, “preparing a diverse cadre of spiritually rooted leaders to create a world where all can thrive.” In this historical moment we recognize with increased clarity the importance of our work and our gratitude for all with whom we pursue it. Through our graduate program, centers, and the emerging collective of leaders we are forming through Kwaray.com, we continue the sacred struggle for justice.
