This course provides a foundational exploration of the Hebrew Bible (commonly called the Old Testament) and its interpretation, examining its historical context, literary structure, and theological significance. Students will engage with the text through literary, historical, and historiographical lenses, considering its complex relationship with history and its impact on faith communities. Designed to equip leaders with interpretive strategies and scholarly resources, this course fosters critical engagement with the Hebrew Bible while also drawing on its wisdom to support faith-based community development. Coursework includes class discussions, four reading assignments, and a Final Project, allowing students to synthesize their learning and apply it to their academic and leadership contexts.
