In the spirit of Pride Month, when queer communities celebrate, remember, and create, join us at Pacific School of Religion for an evening dedicated to the power of queer joy. What does it mean to center joy in a world that so often denies it to queer persons? How is queer joy applicable to allies? This lecture explores queer joy not as an empty celebration, but as a deeply theological and justice-oriented practice. Rooted in the history of Pride as a protest and as a reclamation of identity, this gathering considers joy as a form of resistance: as a refusal to be erased and, instead, as a collective creative reimagining of our Church and society. Following a brief lecture, participants are invited into a guided discussion to consider how queer joy might shape our collective commitments to faith, justice, and communal life.
