Join us as Rev. Rhina Ramos shares her experiences as the National Coordinator For Proyecto Encuentros Bienvenida Y Gracia, a program of The United Church Of Christ.  Funded by a grant from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, this project advances the UCC’s ONA (Open and Affirming) Ministries among churches in the denomination that are predominantly Latinx in membership or have a Latinx outreach.

Rev. Rhina Ramos is an ordained United Church of Christ minister who has led an open and affirming Spanish-speaking congregation in Oakland, California, since 2011.  She is also the National Coordinator of Proyecto Encuentros Gracia y Bienvenida for the United Church of Christ.

Rhina was born in El Salvador and grew up during the civil war.  Embedded in her heart is the voice of San Romero de Las Americas who denounced oppression from the pulpit.  A graduate of Hofstra University Law School (1995), Rhina practiced labor law in New York State for 5 years and recuperated thousands of dollars in unpaid wages for immigrant workers.  In 2003, she was awarded a Masters in Divinity (MDiv) degree from Pacific School of Religion.

Rhina is also an experienced Community Organizer who has led programs and campaigns to promote educational equity, labor rights, LGBTQ human rights, international solidarity with El Salvador, and domestic violence prevention.  In her free time, she loves long walks listening to sappy romantic music in Spanish.
