Rev. Heather Leslie Hammer is a PSR alumnx (MDiv ’06), United Methodist pastor, and former teacher of English and German. After serving several Bay Area congregations, Heather has taken up writing in retirement. Her first book, Shetland Mist: A Shetland Family in the Methodist Movement, tells the story of her great-great-grandmother, Ann Leslie, who raised nine children in a two-room cottage in the Shetland Islands in the 1800s. Through historical fiction, Heather traces the Wesleyan missionaries’ impact on this family as it faces great hardship yet demonstrates resilience in a community of faith.
