Our deepest condolences go out to the family and faith community of Sharon MacArthur, a PSR alumnx and former chair of the board who passed away on June 5th, 2023. PSR community and friends are invited to attend her Public Memorial Service on Sunday, July 23rd at 3pm PT.  The service will be a live, in-person worship service and reception at Sycamore Congregational Church, UCC where Pastor Sharon served 14 years and was recently made Pastor Emerita.

Her ministry was a guiding light radiating racial and cultural insights and invitations to widen the diversity of the United Church of Christ, often through PAAM – Pacific Islander and Asian American Ministries. She was President of National PAAM when God called her home. Sharon also served on many ecclesiastical church bodies and as a beloved mentor.

Sharon had a long history with PSR, earning a Master of Divinity degree in 2001, followed by 10 years of service on our Board of Trustees, including serving as chair, and was the first Asian-American woman to serve on a US seminary board. She also served on the Advisor Committee of the PANA Institute (Pacific and Asian North American Religion) for eight years.
