On February 4th current PSR MDiv student Rev. Dr. LeJon Payne preached at Stanford University’s Black Church: University Praise & Worship. The intention of Stanford’s Black Church is to provide a spiritually nurturing environment where the gathered community can experience the presence of God in the Black Church Tradition. Rev. Dr. Payne is a native of Oakland, California, where her journey towards a life dedicated to service and empowerment began. As a wife and mother of a vibrant 4-year-old, she embraces the challenges and joys of family life while pursuing her higher calling.
Rev. Dr. Payne is ardently working towards a Master of Divinity at PSR, working to, deepen her understanding of spirituality and prepare herself for a leadership role in the church. She proudly serves as a Minister at Brookins AME Church in Oakland, California, where she actively engages in fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth.
She is an alumna of Clark Atlanta University, Oglethorpe University, and Cambridge College, reflecting her dedication to continuous learning and academic excellence. Currently serving as the principal of Sequoia Elementary, she channels her energy into creating an equitable and joyous community within the school environment.
A tireless advocate for social justice, Rev. Dr. Payne aspires to empower others through her work. She firmly believes in the transformative power of hope, regardless of the circumstances. Her ultimate goal is to be a beacon of inspiration and change as she dedicates her life to uplifting communities, fostering equity, and spreading the message that hope is an enduring force that can overcome any challenge.
