Join the entire Pacific School of Religion (PSR) community in congratulating Dr. Lisa Asedillo for being awarded this year’s Faculty Excellence Award!
Faculty excellence is at the core of PSR’s ability to live out its mission to prepare spiritually rooted leaders to create a world where all can thrive. This yearly award is a community-wide recognition of the dedication and effort required to embody this commitment and make a significant difference in our academic community.
Community members described Professor Asedillo as an excellent teacher, advisor, and inspiring mentor. One student said she “adds excitement to the curriculum and motivates students to dig a little deeper.” One said she “single-handedly turned my most feared class into one of my most impactful.”
Many complimented her skill in connecting online and in-person students into one holistic class. One student said that Professor Asedillo “makes all in our class feel safe, seen and appreciated, managing in an exemplary way the hybridity of our learning community. Leading in an online and classroom space is challenging; doing it in a manner that allows all to feel as though they belong while modeling how we can better operate in a hybrid world, well, it is a gift to behold.”
In presenting the award, Dean Susan Abraham said, “Professor Asedillo is an inspiration to us all. She is a great citizen of PSR, a great faculty colleague, and an exceptional instructor.”
