PSR Associate Professor Heesung Hwang has received $10,000 in funding from the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion to lead the 2026–27 Peer Mentoring Cluster, “Sustaining the Teaching Life: Korean American Theological Educators Beyond Survival.”
The cluster brings together Dr. Hwang with Dr. Eunil David Cho (Boston University School of Theology), Dr. Minji Lee (Montclair State University), and Dr. Dong Sung Kim (Drew Theological School) for sustained conversation around teaching, vocation, mentoring, and flourishing in academic life.
PSR is serving as the institutional home for the project. In its letter of support, PSR affirmed the cluster’s commitment to justice in theological education and its attention to the racialized, cultural, and institutional pressures shaping the lives of Korean American scholars.
The project reflects a shared commitment to moving beyond survival toward more sustainable, connected, and flourishing lives in theological education.
