Pacific School of Religion is excited to welcome Rev. Angela Brown, JD, who joins the PSR Community Life staff as our new Associate for Student Formation and UMC Student Coordinator.
Angela is no stranger to PSR—she earned her Master of Divinity here in 2014, was ordained as a Deacon in the California-Nevada Annual Conference in 2016, and faithfully served on PSR’s Board of Trustees, including terms as Secretary (2016–2019) and Vice Chair (2019–2021). She has also been a leader in the wider United Methodist Church, currently serving as Chair of the Order of Deacons of the California-Nevada Annual Conference and, most recently, elected to the Judicial Council in 2024 for an eight-year term.
Her professional and ministerial journey has been both rich and varied. Angela served for over two decades in the U.S. Naval Reserves, retiring as a Commander in 2006, and she worked for many years in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, serving as an Assistant District Attorney under five District Attorneys including then-District Attorney Kamala Harris. Following her call to ministry, she served as Associate Pastor at Glide Memorial UMC and later as Minister of Community Engagement, Advocacy, and Justice for the Bay District of the Annual Conference of the United Methodist.
In her new role at PSR, Angela will accompany students in their formation, foster community across our diverse student body, and serve as a key resource for UMC students navigating ordination and vocational pathways.
We are excited to welcome Angela back to PSR in this new capacity and look forward to the wisdom, compassion, and deep commitment she brings to our community. Please take a moment to greet her and extend your welcome in the weeks ahead!
