Supplementary Admission Information
CSR Applicants
It is strongly recommended that you have basic introductory knowledge of the Bible, theology, church history and ethics before matriculating into the CSR program. This recommendation can be satisfied in one of the following three ways:
- Undergraduate or graduate level course work in these areas at an accredited institution;
- Proof of completion of an MDiv degree program;
- Completion of a reading list supplied by PSR.
Transfer Students
Transfer credit from an accredited seminary or graduate school is accepted if that credit has not already been applied to a degree and if that credit is evaluated by the Associate Dean as an appropriate part of the MDiv program. Transfer students should contact the Associate Dean as early as possible in the application process. Petitions to the Associate Dean should include an official transcript showing the credits earned. In some cases, the Associate Dean may request that you supply syllabi to accompany the written request.
If you are transferring to the Master of Divinity program you should contact the Field Education office during the application process to determine your filed education requirements and to plan for a placement if necessary.
Northwest House of Theological Studies (NHTS)
Located in Salem, Oregon, the Northwest House of Theological Studies is an extension program of graduate theological education for mainline Protestant students. Students may earn up to one half of the credits toward a Master of Divinity degree by attending weekend and summer courses while honoring professional and family obligations.
NHTS welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds: Methodist, American Baptist, Lutheran, United Church of Christ, Presbyterian, Episcopal, Unitarian or other. Its goal is to assist all Christians called to ministry in their path to religious preparation.
GTU Day
GTU Day (sponsored by the Graduate Theological Union) is an opportunity to meet Admissions staff from PSR and all GTU member schools. In addition to the GTU faculty and student panel, there is time to speak with representatives from each member school.
The next GTU Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2008 and will be incorporated into PSR's Ministry as Vocation/Exploring Ministry Weekend, April 11–13, 2008.
