2013 Registration & More - Summer Session General Information
Welcome • Courses • Instructors
Events & Worship
All Summer Session events are open to one and all. Summer Session courses may be taken for academic credit or CEUs. Each course's requirements for academic credit students are higher than those for CEU students. Students enrolled in courses must be age eighteen or older. Tuesday Night Talks provide food for thought, without credits or CEUs.
How to Register
See How to Register for detailed registration instructions.
Wait List for Full Courses
Most summer courses do not have a maximum enrollment. Those that do will indicate this on the Courses page. Wait lists are maintained for summer courses that reach their capacity. Use the Wait List Form to submit your name. PSR certificate and degree students taking courses for academic credit are given preference. Being on the wait list is no guarantee of entry into the course. The Summer Session office will contact you if an opening arises.

Tuesday night talks are free of charge and open to the general public.

Transferring Credit: Prior to enrolling, please check with the registrar and/or academic advisor at your institution to confirm that Summer Session course credit will be applicable to your particular degree program and area of study.
Grading Options: There are three options for summer session courses: Academic Credit, Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and Audit.
- Academic Credit
Those who take courses for academic credit are expected to have a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent.
Courses are taken for either letter grade or pass/fail and are evaluated by graduate level standards. For more explanation on letter grade and pass/fail options, consult the PSR Grading Policy.
For 1.5 credits (1.5 semester hours): $1020
For 3.0 credits (3.0 semester hours): $2040
On the registration form and on the first day of class, participants taking courses for academic credit will be asked to declare whether they prefer a letter grade or pass/fail status. Students must complete all course requirements by the instructor’s deadline. It is at the instructor's discretion whether incompletes will be rewarded.
- Continuing Education Credit or CEU (not academic credit)
PSR evaluates CEUs primarily by attendance and participation. Ten scheduled classroom contact hours equal 1.0 CEU. CEU students are generally not expected to submit lengthy assignments or complete exams or long papers. For more details, see PSR's CEU page. Students must complete all course requirements by the instructor’s deadline. CEU students are not eligible for extensions.
For 2 CEUs: $360
For 4 CEUs: $720
CEU students must fulfill course CEU requirements to receive CEU credit.
This option is recommended only for those who have special circumstances or a specific reason to audit rather than register for CEUs.
For 1.5 credits (1.5 semester hours): $510
For 3.0 credits (3.0 semester hours): $1020
Changing Grading Option: To change grading option from academic credit to CEUs or vice versa, contact the Summer Session office at email@example.com or 510/849-8268. You will be refunded or charged for the difference in price. Some fees may apply. See Courses table above for deadlines and fees.
Textbooks for Summer Session courses are listed below each course on the Courses web page. They will be available for purchase at the GTU Amazon bookstore in the late spring. (Individual courses are listed on the right-hand side of the page). Please check individual syllabi for full course requirements.
