Credit Options

Transferring Credit: Prior to enrolling, please check with the registrar and/or academic advisor at your institution to confirm that Summer Session course credit will be applicable to your particular degree program and area of study.

Grading Options: There are three types of options for summer session courses: Academic Credit, Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and Audit. Some Summer Session courses may not include all grading options (credit, audit, CEUs).  Note the options available for individual courses on the courses page.

1.  Academic Credit
Those who take courses for academic credit are expected to have a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent.

Courses are taken for either letter grade or pass/fail and are evaluated by graduate level standards. For more explanation on letter grade and pass/fail options, consult the PSR Grading Policy.

For 1.5 credits (1.5 semester hours): $960
For 3.0 credits (3.0 semester hours): $1,920

On the registration form and on the first day of class, participants taking courses for academic credit will be asked to declare whether they prefer a letter grade or pass/fail status.  Students have until three weeks after the last class meeting to complete the academic requirements. Students who do not complete the academic requirements, but who attended class will be changed to CEU status. Grades of "Incomplete" will not be issued.

2.  Continuing Education Credit or CEU (not academic credit)
PSR evaluates CEUs by attendance only. Ten scheduled classroom contact hours equal 1.0 CEU. CEU students are generally not expected to submit assignments or complete exams or papers.

For 2 CEUs: $345
For 4 CEUs: $690

CEU students must fulfill attendance requirements to receive CEU credit hours.

3.  Audit (not for academic credit)
Auditors generally "sit in" on a course and are typically not expected to submit assignments or complete exams or papers. While a record of the course is kept for the auditor, there is not credit of any kind received. Auditors who complete the course successfully receive a grade of "AUD" while those who do not receive a  grade of "W" for withdrawal.

For 1.5 credit courses: $345
For 3.0 credit courses: $690

Changing Grading Option: Contact Summer Session Office if you need to change your grading option after your first day of class (e.g. audit, CEU, or Academic Credit). Note: There will be no refunds for the difference in price for changes to a different grading option after the first day of class. However, changes to a higher priced option will incur extra tution for the difference in price.
