Remembering Del Brown

Beloved Dean Emeritus Del Brown, a leading national voice of progressive Christianity, passed away on September 12. We invite you to share your memories of Del with the PSR community. For more about Del, see obituary.

Betty's Bench is named for Betty Rumford, PSR receptionist from 1969 to 1999. Betty considered hospitality to be her ministry--making each visitor feel respected and valued. We dedicate this Web feature to her and invite you to contribute in her spirit (postings that do not uphold this spirit will be deleted).

Del Brown

I had the privilege of working with Del on the Academic Committee of the PSR Board of Trustees and through that connection, to assist him in the startup and launch of The Progressive Christian Witness. Del touched me deeply and I valued our brief but meaningful friendship and professional relationship. He was a man of rare integrity, intelligence, and humility, and was possessed as well of a wry, quiet sense of humor that lightened any situation. His death came far too soon. I miss him.
