Health Care Rally in Oakland
Please join members of the Bay Area Coalition of Welcoming Congregations (CWC) as well as other people of faith this Sunday afternoon as we gather to march and show our support for Health Care Reform in our country. The rally and march will begin at the "Lakeside Park" sign (close to the Lake Merritt Pavilion at Grand Ave and Bellevue).
This is an event sponsored and organized by members of the Pacific School of Religion (PSR) community and the Bay Area Coalition of Welcoming Congregations and features PSR Professor Andrea Bieler who will speak about the spiritual imperatives for health care reform. Laura Peterson, a hospital administrator from Kaiser Permanente Oakland, will speak about health providers who want to see and are working for health care reform. And Frank and Joe Capley-Alfano, a married couple who do not have health insurance, will speak on the importance of affordable health care. Rev. Roland Stringfellow will give a prayer for all in need of adequate and affordable health care. Rally participants will then be encouraged to carry signs as we march around the lake bringing attention to the need for health care reform in our nation.
