Faith, Food, and Animals: Film screening and panel discussion

RRRuetherPSR's student group TREES (Theological Roundtable on Ecological Ethics and Spirituality) is co-hosting a documentary screening, to be followed by a panel discussion (February 25, 7pm, PSR Chapel). The free event, "Faith, Food and Animals: Factory Farming and Christian Responses," will highlight the film "Eating Mercifully." The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Faith Outreach is co-sponsoring the gathering.

Faculty and experts on ecology, animal rights, and religion will explore the film's implications and applications to everyday life. Panelists include:

-Rosemary Radford Ruether, faculty emeritus of PSR and GTU and professor of feminist theology
-Christine Gutleben, director of faith outreach on animals and religion at the HSUS
-Richard Norgaard, professor of energy and resources at the University of California, Berkeley
-Laura Hobgood-Oster, professor of religion and environmental studies at Southwestern University
