Prayers during a time of grief

October 29 to November 8, 2009

My Grandpa Don passed away yesterday. We were very close, and I am still in shock about it. So hard to believe.

At the end of September he went in to have a tumor removed from his lung - they ended up taking the entire upper left lobe. His COPD was much worse than they thought - from years of industrial and cigarette damage.

By the end of last week he was breathing on his own for two hours at a time, so we were very hopeful that he would make a full recovery. His breathing wasn't as strong this week, but the doctors didn't seem to be alarmed. He took a turn after midnight yesterday, and it became clear that he would not recover. My Dad and his sisters decided it was time to let him go.

And so too must I.

The visitation is Tuesday, Funeral services Wednesday of next week at Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City. Please keep my family and me in your thoughts, prayers, dances, sighs and songs.

Thank you,
