PSR welcomes new trustees
Six new trustees were elected at the May meeting of the PSR Board of Trustees. Five will serve for three years; student trustees serve for two years. (Pictured from left: Dick Hom, ML Daniel, Lynne Hinton, Pamela Shepherd, and Jeffrey Crews.)
ML Daniel runs a law firm that advises and litigates on behalf of clients that have suffered unfair or adverse employment practices. A former litigator with the Washington State Attorney General’s office, she has also held positions in the Dade County Prosecutor’s Office in Florida and the United States Attorney’s office in Washington, D.C. She provides pulpit support for Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in the Greater Seattle area, serves as a volunteer for people with AIDS, and has served as an elder board chair for Findlay Street Christian Church.
Lynne Hinton is pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Albuquerque, NM. She has served as a hospice chaplain and as the pastor of two other UCC churches in North Carolina. The author of ten books, she writes a monthly column for the Charlotte Observer’s “Faith and Values” section. She graduated from PSR in 1988 and has served on the seminary’s Alumni/ae Council, and was selected as a Distinguished Alumna in 2003.
Richard (Dick) Hom has owned two small businesses and has been the owner of Mustard Seed Promotions, a promotional products company, since 1996. A member of the Chinese Congregational Church (UCC) in San Francisco, Dick helped to co-found a summer day camp program serving children in the San Francisco Chinatown area since 1969 and is an officer of the Pacific Islander and Asian American Ministries of the Northern California–Nevada conference of UCC.
Rochelle (Roxy) Klein worked for 15 years at Goldman Sachs & Co, where she was a vice president in the fixed income currency and commodities division in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Since 2002, she has been involved in numerous philanthropic causes. She is an active member of her Episcopalian church, where she serves as senior warden of the vestry, chairs the outreach committee, and organizes several major events each year.(Not available for photo.)
Pamela Shepherd is pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Ashland, OR, a church that has enjoyed a surge of growth under her leadership. Prior to earning her MDiv degree at PSR in 2005, she lived in Taos, NM, where she directed a nonprofit organization and taught college classes in writing and film.
Jeffrey Crews serves as the student representative to the Board of Trustees. A third-year MDiv student, Jeffrey formerly headed Merrill Lynch’s brokerage operations in Fresno.
