PSR and New Spirit offer Advent events

November 28, 2010

With Rev. Jim Mitulski serving as both pastor of New Spirit Community Church and co-coordinator of worship at PSR, the offerings on campus for the holiday season are better than ever, including a combined lessons and carols service and an Advent retreat.

Advent Lessons & Carols will take place Thursday, December 2, from 7–9pm in the PSR Chapel, 1798 Scenic Avenue, Berkeley, and will involve the New Spirit Choir, the PSR Chorale and the San Francisco City of Refuge Choir. The combined choirs plan to offer a beautiful candlelight service marking the seasons of light: Advent, Chanukah, Christmas, and Solstice. The service is free and open to the public.

Prepare the Way: An Advent Retreat sponsored by New Spirit Community Church, will take place Saturday, December 4, from 9 am–12 pm at the Berkeley Ecumenical Center, 2401 Le Conte Avenue (across from PSR campus). Join Rev. Jim Mitulski of New Spirit Community Church and Rev. Joellynn Monahan (PSR's associate director of recruitment and admissions) in a time of contemplation and preparation for the Advent season. For more on the retreat, see the New Spirit Web site
