PSR and CARE launch "Creation... Continued" arts series

MiningCollectionWhatRemainsThis year PSR and GTU’s Center for the Arts, Religion, and Education will be sponsoring Creation... Continued, three programs highlighting art and religion in the Bay Area. Events will take place on Holy Hill and at local museums. The series will feature faculty from PSR, GTU, and CARE collaborating with artists and museum directors in interdisciplinary presentations on the intersections of art, history, and faith.

All events begin at 5:30 pm. The cost is $25 per person for each event, which includes museum admission. For more information, see the PSR public events calendar, careartsandreligion.org, or call 510/849-8216.

February 24: “As It Is Written," Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco.

March 31: “Mining the Collection,” Doug Adams Gallery, PSR campus. Join artist-in-residence Julia Nelson Gal as she reinterprets Badè Museum artifacts of ancient Palestine. Exhibit opening is free to the public from 5-7pm in the Doug Adams Gallery. After the opening, please join PSR professor Aaron Brody for a tour/lecture of rare Badè Museum artifacts. The cost for this behind-the-scenes tour is $25.

May 20: “Splendors of Faith/Scars of Conquest,” Oakland Museum of California, Oakland. PSR professor Devin Zuber discusses the rich artistic legacy of the Franciscan and Jesuit mission churches in northern Mexico and the American Southwest, with a special welcome from museum director Lori Fogarty.

July 21: “Faith and Film,” Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, Berkeley. CARE faculty member Richard Lindsay offers a multimedia presentation on film and religion.
