President McKinney invites you to Earl Lectures 2009

January 22, 2009

I hope you’ll join us on Holy Hill January 27-29 for the 108th Earl Lectures: “Behold: A New Thing: Emerging Expressions of Faithfulness.” The theme is the emergent church; and the speakers, including Jay Bakker (son of Jim and Tammy Faye), are young, energetic, and edgy. Plenary lectures will be held on Tuesday, January 27 at 10 am, and on Wednesday, January 28 at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. The emergent church is explored further in 13 workshops (including “Pop Goes Religion” and “Preaching in the Age of YouTube”), meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. A screening of the exciting new film, The Ordinary Radicals, begins Tuesday evening at 7:30. We also will honor two of PSR’s best teachers, who are retiring in June, Lynn Rhodes and Fumitaka Matsuoka (Tuesday at 4:30 pm) as well as a group of Distinguished Alumni/ae (4:30 pm Wednesday), preceding the Alumni/ae Banquet, which begins at 5:45 pm.

A full schedule is provided here.
