New pastoral care team serves PSR community
Beginning this fall, PSR will offer a team-based approach to pastoral care for students, staff, and faculty. In the past, one position oversaw pastoral care at the school; now, four ordained clergymembers will provide the PSR campus with comfort, encouragement, and nurturance.
“With more people to go to, pastoral care is more available,” says Donnel Miller-Mutia of PSR's Office of Community Life. “At any time, there are people to be with you and support you.”
The previous system was restructured in part to offer more choices of whom to talk to in times of need. The four campus pastors come from a variety of ethnic, racial, and denominational backgrounds to ensure that individuals can find a confidante with whom they are most comfortable, Miller-Mutia explains.
Pastoral care is a vital service in the school’s community, offering support and fellowship during times of stress, joy, sadness, and change.
To meet with the campus pastors, community members can stop by during their posted hours (listed below). Student volunteers with experience in providing care are also available for support, prayer, and crisis response. A list of all pastoral care team members and their contact information is available on the printed flyers in the Holbrook lobby and from the Office of Community Life.
