First Congregational Church Alameda, UCC

First Congregational UCC in Alameda is a vibrant, warm and welcoming community bringing together a diversity of people who are committed to deepening their spirituality, reengaging the bible in its social and cultural context and responding to the call to "do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God." We have a flourishing Children and Youth Ministry as well as many small group opportunities for adults to explore their faith. Our congregation is engaged in the wider community including work with our local food bank, homeless shelter and other service and social justice projects. We have been a bold advocate in our community for LGBTQ equality and co-sponsor the annual Alameda Harvey Milk Day and other Pride events. Our worship services are lively and joyful and include a regular interactive and experiential prayer ritual. Our community is comprised of approximately 140 members and participating friends. A minister-in-training can expect to engage in all aspects of pastoral ministry as well as focus in on areas that are of special interest.
