Faculty in Field Education and Leadership Development

This Faculty position provides educational and intellectual leadership in Field Education and Leadership Development for a diverse faculty and student body. The faculty person in Field Education/Leadership Development will lead a small group Field Education year-long seminar, teach the required Leadership course for M.Div. students, and one elective during the academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to publish creative and recognized scholarship. Rank is open.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out the responsibilities listed in the Faculty Manual
• Develop praxis based Field Education programs and resources that call for critical theological reflection, contextual analysis, leadership assessment/evaluation and accountability to communities
• Cultivate field education mentors and sites
• Teach theory and practice of mentoring to field mentors and field based committees (9 to 11 seminars per year)
• Oversee recruitment and teaching of Field Education adjunct faculty
• Supervise Associate Field Education Director and staff
• Develop and oversee Field Education budget
• Advise M.Div. students in areas of vocational/field education
• Attend monthly Graduate Theological Union (GTU) Field Education (FE) Directors meetings/coordination of GTU FE events
• Serve as consultant and mediator for sites, mentors and students when necessary
• Consult with the faculty on the development of the Senior Integrative Seminar and the D.Min. Seminar
• Participate in PSR community life as a member of the faculty involved in teaching, scholarship, student advising and community service
• Advise M.Div., MTS, D.Min. and GTU M.A. students
• Work with faculty to shape the vision and goals of the seminary
• Seek opportunities for development of creative teaching, including the use of newer technologies
• Develop curriculum and teach in interdisciplinary collaboration with other faculty colleagues

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D. in Practical Theology or an allied field, Th.D., Ed.D)
• Interdisciplinary teaching competency
• Experience and competence in supervising staff
• Experience to create and oversee department budget
• Knowledge of multi-cultural contexts; congregational studies; religious practices; identity and leadership formation within diverse contexts of ministry with post colonial, anti-racist, liberation perspectives
• Scholarly publications and a developed research agenda, and record of scholarly work consistent with rank
• Experience and competence in field education program development
• Proven experience and achievement as a teacher consistent with rank
• Commitment to strong leadership and collegial teaching in theological education
• Readiness to affirm PSR' s ecumenical and Christian heritage and commitment as an open and affirming community that honors diversity and presses toward racial, gender, sexual orientation and economic and ecological justice
• Active connections to faith communities
• Ability to build good relationships with and among faculty, students, staff, trustees and wider publics including community building, organizing, and networking
• Skilled communicator with a sensitivity to diverse perspectives
• Experience in small group processes
• A commitment to dismantling racism and competent at cross-cultural relations
