Each Tuesday at 11:10 am during the academic session, the PSR community gathers in the Chapel of the Great Commission for our weekly worship. Homilies generally follow the Revised Common Lectionary. We also celebrate special themes and holidays and welcome students to incorporate diverse traditions in our services. Service planning, reflection, and evaluation are coordinated by the Chapel Committee, which meets weekly during the academic year. Contact Director of Worship Life Sharon Fennema at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more and to become involved in Chapel.
The PSR Chorale, under the direction of Maren Haynes and Andrew Jamieson, sings in Tuesday chapel and offers special programs such as the December Advent Lessons and Carols service. The Chorale performs diverse music in a variety of styles suitable for use in the parish, offering students an opportunity to actively participate in worship leadership at weekly services. Students, spouses/partners and friends of PSR are invited to join this volunteer choir. Rehearsals are held each Monday afternoon at 1:00 pm, and Tuesdays at 10:15 am in the Chapel of the Great Commission. Students may arrange credit for participation. For more information, contact Maren Haynes at email@example.com 206/518-0680.
Praise and Worship Music Services
We welcome you to join the PSR community in a celebration through Praise and Worship! Connect with the Divine through community and music. We draw from a variety of songs, including soul, hymns, contemporary worship, spirituals, and maybe even some classic rock. Some tunes will be familiar for you, and some will be new.
Come as you are, and take what you need!
Praise and Worship at PSR is on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 7pm in the PSR Chapel, while classes are in session. Contact: Trust Hilton at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
Prayer in the Manner of Taizé
We invite you to join in a service of prayer and song in the manner of Taizé. The Taizé community began in Burgundy, France as a place of reconciliation and safety in the midst of World War II. Now, the community has become one of the world’s most important sites of Christian pilgrimage. Prayer through song in the Taizé community focuses on simple phrases, often inspired by Christian scripture. The music of Taizé is known around the world, in many languages. Join us for a time of reflection, meditation, and prayer, as modeled by the Taizé community.
Prayer in the manner of Taizé is on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7pm in the PSR Chapel, while classes are in session. Contact: Tom Emanuel at email@example.com to learn more.
The Office of Community Life works with students to create prayer support groups, which are often led by local PSR alumni/ae. Contact Rev. Ann Jefferson at 510/849-8257 firstname.lastname@example.org.
