2009-2010 Honor Roll of Donors

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord,
plans for your welfare, not for woe!
Plans to give you a future full of hope.

                                                                  - Jeremiah 29:11

During the 2009-2010 academic year, nearly 140 PSR students received scholarship support. That’s 62 percent of the student body, with total scholarship support reaching nearly $950,000. These funds came from both the Annual Fund and long-term endowments. PSR would not be able to provide this financial assistance to students without your faithful support.

Whether you have put PSR in your estate plans or gave to an endowment fund to honor your favorite pastor, president, or professor, or faithfully give to the annual fund each year; you have participated in building new leaders in ministry and in supporting the faculty, staff, and programs vital to the seminary’s progressive Christian witness.

As director of advancement and alumni/ae relations at PSR, I am often asked why giving is important to the seminary as well as to the donor. Not only does your donation support the people and programs of PSR, but it also reflects your belief in the value and longevity of the school.

There are many ways to give. Alumnus Mark Holman led his family in setting up a scholarship fund in honor of his parents. PSR alumna Kelly Love and her spouse, former PSR staff member Katie Tenerilli, give automatic monthly gifts to PSR. Many staff members have signed up for bi-weekly payroll deductions. Long time PSR supporter Vera Pitts has put PSR in her will because, “I wanted to leave my inheritance in places where I knew it would be used wisely and well. PSR is definitely one of those places.”

This is a time of important transitions at PSR. As we look towards the future, we are honored by the many ways you have chosen to express your faith in Pacific School of Religion—faith in where we have been, where we are, and where we will go. As 2005 alumna Nicole LaMarche says, “I thank you for believing in what this school does because PSR really dares to follow the lure of God and that takes guts.”
